As extreme MAGA Republicans in Congress return today from district work period, concerning reports reveal House Republicans have enthusiastically signed onto alarming anti-abortion bills aimed at restricting reproductive freedom.
Vulnerable House Republicans – including members in districts President Biden won in 2020 – are pushing for legislation that would severely limit private insurance coverage for abortions. This legislation would overturn state law in New York and California – among other states – that guarantees access to abortion coverage in private insurance plans.
Furthermore, several vulnerable House Republicans intend to restrict access to safe and legal abortion medication mifepristone and prevent servicemembers and their families from taking paid leave to access reproductive health care.
In a recent interview, GOP Conference Chairwoman Elise Stefanik made clear the Republican plot to enact a nationwide abortion ban – admitting Republicans “will get [it]done.”

DCCC spokesperson Courtney Rice:
“Extreme MAGA Republicans – including their most vulnerable members – are slowly chipping away at reproductive freedom despite telling their constituents on the campaign trail that Dobbs made the issue of abortion a ‘states-rights’ issue. The truth is MAGA Republicans will stop at nothing to enact their ultimate goal: a nationwide abortion ban.”
