Reps. Carlos Giménez, María Elvira Salazar Vote AGAINST Capping Insulin Prices

House passes bipartisan bill aimed at preventing excessive prices for life-saving and life-sustaining drug, no thanks to Carlos and María Elvira

Today, the House passed historic and bipartisan legislation that, if enacted, will cap consumers’ out-of-pocket cost for insulin at $35 per month – a move that voters overwhelmingly supportBoth Carlos Giménez and María Elvira Salazar voted against it.

There are nearly 30 million Americans diagnosed with diabetes, and for the millions who require insulin, the prescription drug often makes the difference between life and death. Tragically, studies found that nearly a quarter of diabetes patients have been forced to ration or even skip their medication due to skyrocketing costs.

Carlos and María Elvira once again shamefully chose to abandon their constituents today, voting against commonsense, broadly popular legislation that would help ensure more Americans can afford a drug that keeps them alive and well.

DCCC Spokesperson Abel Iraola:

“With each shameful vote, Carlos Giménez and María Elvira Salazar are building the case against them this election cycle. Voters in South Florida won’t forget that when given the opportunity to lower costs and save lives, Carlos and María Elvira abandoned them.”
