Senator Kennedy: “Bringing back high-risk pools, which have been outlawed under the ACA”
Senator John Kennedy just gave away the game. During an interview with CNN today, the Senator admitted that Congressional Republicans are “batting around” a number of ideas to “fix” the Affordable Care Act, including “bringing back high-risk pools.”
These are the same failed policies that left millions of Americans with pre-existing conditions priced out of buying insurance or medically bankrupt. Before the ACA, high-risk pools meant sky-high premiums, annual caps, and limited benefits that vanished when families needed them most.
DCCC Spokesperson Aidan Johnson:
“We’ve seen this movie before. Congressional Republicans want to drag this country back to the days when getting sick meant financial ruin. They’re using this shutdown to plot another plan to eliminate protections for millions of Americans with pre-existing conditions. It cost them the House in 2018 and it will cost them in 2026.”
