Republican Chris West’s shameless hypocrisy was on full display last night.
After the news that the FBI searched Donald Trump’s Florida home Mar-a-Lago, suddenly Chris changed his tune on backing law enforcement, saying, “The Biden administration and the Left have systematically weaponized and politicized … DOJ.”
The manufactured outrage is a complete flip flop from Chris West’s previous assertion that Southwest Georgia needs “a leader who will strongly stand beside and support our Law Enforcement,” and the irony won’t be lost on Georgians. As National Journal put it: “Republican incumbents appeared to become the party of ‘defund the police’ in a matter of hours.”
Instead of letting law enforcement do its job, Republicans immediately leapt to spread baseless conspiracy theories and attack the integrity of the FBI. Last night made clear: Trump’s Republican Party has no conviction that won’t collapse like a house of cards the second it serves them politically.
“Chris West is so extreme that he attacked law enforcement the second it served him politically,” said DCCC spokesperson Monica Robinson. “If Chris West really respected the law, he would let law enforcement do their work instead of spreading baseless conspiracy theories and attacking the integrity of the FBI.”
