Republican Christian Castelli Changes His Tune on Law and Order

National Journal: “Republican incumbents appeared to become the party of ‘defund the police’ in a matter of hours.”

Republican Christian Castelli’s shameless hypocrisy was on full display last night.

After the news that the FBI searched Donald Trump’s Florida home Mar-a-Lago, Castelli suddenly changed his tune on backing law enforcement, claiming it was “abuse.”

The manufactured outrage is proof that Christian Castelli will do or say anything if it benefits him politically, even if it means throwing law enforcement under the bus. As National Journal put it: “Republican incumbents appeared to become the party of ‘defund the police’ in a matter of hours.”

Instead of letting law enforcement do its job, Republicans immediately leapt to spread baseless conspiracy theories and attack the integrity of the FBI. This week made clear: Trump’s Republican Party has no conviction that won’t collapse like a house of cards the second it serves them politically.

“Christian Castelli is so extreme that he attacked law enforcement the second it served him politically,” said DCCC spokesperson Monica Robinson. “If Castelli really respected the law, he would let law enforcement do their work instead of spreading baseless conspiracy theories and attacking the integrity of the FBI.”
