In case you missed it, the IRS is now launching a safety review as increased violent right-wing rhetoric threatens its federal employees and the everyday citizens that work for the IRS.
House Republicans have now spent weeks lying and misleading voters about provisions in the Inflation Reduction Act – despite numerous fact checks correcting their false claims – in a desperate attempt to stoke unjustified fear while they work to protect the wealthy tax cheats that back their campaigns.
These desperate lies have turned dangerous, something all too common in the Republican party. After Republicans touted baseless claims of election fraud, there was a violent attack and coup attempt at the US Capitol. After Republicans railed against and threatened the FBI and DOJ for doing their jobs, there was an attack at an FBI field office in Cincinnati, Ohio.
