As Virginians wake up to the first day of the Republican shutdown, Jen Kiggans, Rob Wittman, and House Republicans can’t be bothered to even come to work.
Millions of Americans are poised to get slapped with massive increases on their health care bills this fall, and poll after poll shows that voters want Congress to restore affordable health care and will hold Republicans responsible for their failed agenda.
But instead of doing their job, Kiggans, Wittman and Republicans have chosen to not even show up to work this week, cancelling all votes, shutting the government down, and threatening Americans’ livelihoods in the process.
Wittman was even “caught fundraising at [a] swanky steakhouse” hours before the government officially shut down.
DCCC Spokesperson Eli Cousin:
“Jen Kiggans and Rob Wittman helped House Republicans barrel the nation towards a shutdown because they decided that averting skyrocketing health care costs for millions of Americans wasn’t worth their time. Make no mistake, Kiggans and Wittman own this shutdown, and they own the harm and higher costs facing working Virginians.” |
