Wayne Johnson, one of many candidates running in the crowded GOP primary in GA-02, has become the latest Georgia Republican to push the conspiracy theory that former president Donald Trump won the 2020 election.
In a recent radio interview (47:30), Johnson was asked “Do you think Trump won Georgia in 2020?” After initially fumbling and asking the host to repeat the question a second time, Johnson answers “I do.”
The false claim that Trump won Georgia in 2020 has been repeatedly debunked after multiple audits found no evidence of fraud. Disinformation about the election has led to threats on the lives of Georgia elections officials, including Republican Gabriel Sterling, and led to resignations of elections workers after they endured harassment. Do Jeremy Hunt, Chris West, Rich Robertson, and Vivian Childs also believe in the debunked conspiracy theory that Trump won Georgia in 2020?
“The lie Wayne Johnson is pushing about the 2020 election is the same lie that led to death threats toward Georgia elections officials, and forced many to resign to escape harassment,” said DCCC spokesperson Monica Robinson. “Georgians deserve better than a politician who will shamelessly push dangerous conspiracies to score political points.”
