As the nation prepares to hear more of the truth about one of the greatest assaults on our democracy, the DCCC has updated its January 6 dashboard to highlight candidates, GOP members, and House Republican leadership’s role and actions surrounding January 6. The Select Committee will unveil the truth and facts will speak for themselves – meanwhile, we will remind voters of Republicans’ embrace of extremists.
Here is what we already know regarding House Republicans’ role leading up to and following January 6th.
-
Republicans across the country – candidates and members of Congress – peddled the big lie that the election was stolen.
-
Even after rioters stormed the Capitol, beat police officers, and threatened the lives of lawmakers, 139 House Republicans voted to overturn the 2020 election results.
-
All but 2 Republicans voted against creating a select committee to investigate the deadly January 6 attack on the US Capitol after only 35 Republicans voted in favor of an independent commission to investigate the insurrection.
-
NRCC Chair Tom Emmer refused to rule out backing insurrectionist House candidates.
-
At least 6 Republican candidates in swing districts organized and participated in the January 6th insurrection.
-
In many of the GOP’s target swing districts, “top recruits and leading candidates have amplified voter fraud conspiracies, denied the outcome of the 2020 election, and touted their own trips to the Capitol on Jan. 6.”
-
Numerous GOP Members of Congress were funded by Jan. 6 insurrectionists.
-
21 House Republicans voted against recognizing the bravery of Capitol Police for defending the Capitol
-
The RNC formally condemned Reps. Liz Cheney & Adam Kinzinger for their work on the January 6th commission and called January 6th “legitimate political discourse.”
All of these heinous actions make one thing clear: Republicans will go to any extent necessary to throw out votes if they don’t like an election outcome.

DCCC spokesperson Tommy Garcia:
“Republicans can try to deflect and dodge all they want, but the facts will speak for themselves. House Republicans touted debunked election fraud claims, defended insurrectionists, and tried to stop the investigation into what happened leading up to, during, and following one of the greatest assaults on American democracy.”
