Republicans Exploded the Deficit, Now They’re Considering Pushing Cuts to Medicare & Healthcare for Kids

The midterms are shaping up as a referendum on House Republicans’ historically unpopular agenda, predominantly their cuts to affordable healthcare. And as we saw in Pennsylvania’s 18th district, Republicans’ massive increase to the deficit as a result of their tax scam resonates strongly with voters concerned about cuts to popular programs including Social Security and Medicare. In response to a proposed $7 billion in cuts to CHIP and $800 million in cuts to the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovations, DCCC spokesman Tyler Law issued the following statement:

“A political reckoning is coming, and Republicans seem oddly content to pour fuel on the fire by moving forward with these proposed cuts,” said DCCC Spokesman Tyler Law. “To be sure, Republicans’ continued efforts to slash popular programs including Medicare and healthcare for children are going to be front and center in the midterms.”
