After Texas Republicans passed the most restrictive abortion law in the nation, Republicans in Congress have been conspiring with extreme anti-choice advocates to control women’s decisions and impose similarly dangerous anti-abortion laws on the entire nation.
Despite the majority of Americans supporting legal abortion and keeping Roe V. Wade in place, out-of-touch Republicans have been working towards “a push for a strict nationwide ban on the procedure if Republicans retake power in Washington.”
This move to outlaw abortion after six weeks of pregnancy, reversing a fundamental freedom that women have had for nearly 50 years, would be catastrophic to countless women and families.
Experts say that banning abortion would lead to greater economic insecurity among women, and an increase in pregnancy-related deaths and severe health consequences.
Republicans are putting millions of lives at risk in their draconian efforts to control women’s choices.
“Republicans are making it abundantly clear the extreme lengths they’d go to if they’re allowed to retake the majority – and just how unsafe Americans would be under a Republican-controlled Congress,” said DCCC Chairman Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney.
