Republicans Reach Historic Congressional Disapproval with Voters

Republicans’ approval has plummeted since spring 2025”

Gallup reports Republicans have achieved another negative record as Congressional “disapproval has climbed to 86%, tying the record high for the institution.” The sharp decline could be attributed to the American people’s discontent with Republican failures like the longest government shutdown, the current war in Iran, and ever-increasing prices.

The collapse in approval is mirrored by the decline in Americans’ confidence in the country’s economy. Gallup reports its Economic Confidence Index has dropped to -38, down from -27 just one month ago. Almost half of adults (47%) believe current economic conditions are “poor” and 73% believe the economy is only getting worse.

All voters — Republicans, Democrats, and Independents — are about equally likely to cite economic issues as the key problem facing the country.

REMINDER: This Republican-led Congress is both highly unpopular and one of the most ineffective in history. Even though Republicans hold a governing trifecta, they have had fewer votes and fewer bills passed into law than any other session in recent decades.

DCCC Spokesperson Bridget Gonzalez:
“It’s clear that Republicans don’t want to work for the American people — they spend all their time manufacturing crises and making life more expensive. Voters can see through all of Republicans’ fake economic promises, and they don’t have any confidence in the chaotic GOP.”
