Unbothered with concerns of working Americans, Republicans grasp at straws to win brownie points with Trump
Republicans are openly admitting that their recent impeachment push is nothing short of Trump-induced acquiescence – and the most vulnerable House Republicans in the nation are poised to go along with it.
Texas Republican Troy Nehls went on the record saying that impeachment is good politics as it will bolster Trump with “a little bit of ammo to fire back.” Former Speaker Newt Gingrich chimed in, noting, “if you’re a Republican, do you really want to guarantee a primary opponent by voting against looking into [Biden]?”
Speaker Johnson is following in his predecessor’s footsteps, suggesting that there’s a “political rationale” for impeaching Biden.
REMINDER: According to new polling, nearly 7 out of 10 voters in battleground districts said Republicans in Congress have prioritized the wrong things.
DCCC Spokesperson Viet Shelton:
“House Republicans have decided that rather than work to reduce costs, create jobs, and expand access to health care, they’re just going to pander to Donald Trump. It’s been 33 days since the House passed an appropriations bill – maybe they should try working for the American people instead of caving to the demands of Marjorie Taylor Greene and wannabe dictators.”
