Republicans Struggle to Sell the Big, Ugly Law Because Everyone Hates It

Desperate to find a message, Republicans latest gambit is to focus on tax cuts…for the wealthy

House Republicans’ attempt to market the Big, Ugly Law to voters is landing like a lead balloon, with recent polling showing just 32% of Americans approve of the law.

It’s clear their summer roadshow to sell the law is not going well. Republicans are getting protested back in their districts. They are getting booed at every turn, even for basic photo-ops. The few that are brave enough to hold in-person town halls are faced with large crowds of outraged and betrayed voters.

Take a look at some headlines highlighting Republicans’ recent woes to market the Big, Ugly Law and the MAGA infighting it’s triggering:

It’s easy to see why The Big, Ugly Law is so unpopular. It rips health care from millions of Americanstakes food away from children, people with disabilities, and veterans; and jacks up energy bills. It’s one of the most regressive laws in decades, making everyday Americans pay for a massive billionaire tax break.

REMINDER: Back in May, we predicted that this law will be THE defining issue of the midterms, dragging down vulnerable Republicans’ electoral chances.

DCCC Spokesperson Viet Shelton:
“The Big, Ugly Law is a glaring reminder that House Republicans work for the billionaires – not working families. It’s an unsellable monstrosity, which is why every attempt by House Republicans to market it has been such a disaster. The American public is pissed and ready to vote Republicans out of the majority next year.”
