Republicans Want Higher Taxes for Working Families

Republicans’ economic plan forces middle-class families to pay hundreds more in taxes, effectively eliminates critical tax refunds

Last week, NRSC Chair Senator Rick Scott unveiled Republicans’ extreme agenda, revealing harmful priorities including raising taxes on seniors.

Today, after experts dug into Republicans’ proposal, they found their plan could “increase federal income taxes by more than $100 billion in 2022 alone” and “raise taxes on middle-income households by an average of $450.”

The plan would also practically eliminate critical tax refunds for working families like the Child Tax Credit and the Earned Income Tax Credit.

After voting against the middle-class every chance they got, it’s abundantly clear that if Republicans were in charge, they wouldn’t hesitate to destroy all of the hard-earned progress middle-class families and workers have made.

“Republicans have turned their backs on working families at every turn, and now they want to force them to pay hundreds of dollars more in taxes. This is what Americans have to look forward to if Republicans manage to take power in Washington.”
