This weekend was packed full with Republican extremism, back-tracking, lies, and dodging. Here is a review of the toxic message Republicans are pushing on the campaign trail as we enter the final phase of campaign season:
-
NRCC Chair Tom Emmer reversed previous positions advising candidates to distance themselves from Trump, calling Trump a “fantastic ally.”
-
NRCC Chair Tom Emmer dodged answering whether or not the NRCC is advising candidates to change their websites to hide their unpopular, dangerous positions on abortion.
-
As a reminder, the Daily Beast previously reported that an NRCC-backed candidate, who has since lost in a primary, said the NRCC was advising candidates to “skirt” talking about abortion following the Dobbs decision.
-
NRCC Chair Tom Emmer called efforts to codify Roe and abortion access “Chinese genocide.”
-
Donald Trump and PA-08 GOP candidate Jim Bognet rallied alongside a speaker who highlighted the plight of an alleged Nazi sympathizer held on charges related to the January 6 insurrection.
-
Trump incited violence against law enforcement and the President of the United States, calling him an “enemy of the state.”
“Nearly 60 days out from Election Day and the GOP is calling reproductive freedom genocide and attacking law enforcement,” said DCCC spokesperson Tommy Garcia. “House Republicans are delusional if they think this is the message swing voters want to see and hear.”
