Rich McCormick Finds His Winning Midterm Message: “One Guy Won’t Make a Difference”

McCormick gives up on legislating before even being elected, says in interview: “As a freshman congressman, you’re not going to be able to push legislation”

Failed Republican congressional candidate Rich McCormick is gearing up for his second opportunity to lose to Carolyn Bourdeaux (GA-07), and he appears to have found his midterm message: give up on getting anything done before he even makes it to Congress.

During a recent interview, Rich was quick to manage anyone’s expectations that he might be able to accomplish anything meaningful in Congress, saying“First of all, realize that you only have one vote out of 435. And a freshman congressman, you’re not going to be able to push legislation to the Speaker … Really, what’s one guy gonna make a difference in the big scheme of things?”

“The contrast between Rich McCormick and Carolyn Bourdeaux — a tireless advocate who shows up for Georgians every day — couldn’t be clearer,” said DCCC spokesperson Monica Robinson. “Rich doesn’t need to worry about managing our expectations for what he won’t accomplish in Congress. He’ll never make it there.”
