Roanoke Times Finds Lies in Bob Good’s Racist Ad

Bob Good’s first television ad not only resorts to racist tropes and dog-whistles, but is also riddled with lies about Dr. Cameron Webb’s record.

As the Roanoke Times lays out, Good incorrectly stated Webb’s record on several issues in an ad that does nothing to dispel the reality that Good’s radical and out of touch agenda is motivating moderate Republicans to support Webb.

Here are the facts:

Claim: Webb “would defund the police.”

Roanoke Times Fact Check: “Webb has not advocated for defunding law enforcement. He’s also emphasized that his father worked at the DEA for more than two decades as a human relations manager and performed other roles, such as helping develop federal law enforcement training programs.”

Claim: Webb will “force you into government-run health care.”

Roanoke Times Fact Check: “Webb supports a public health insurance option so that people who prefer their private insurance can retain it.”

“Facts matter. But instead of laying out why voters shouldn’t run away from his out of touch and extreme agenda of hiking emergency service costs and gutting protections for pre-existing conditions in the middle of a global pandemic, Bob Good is resorting to lies and untruths about Dr. Cameron Webb’s record,” said DCCC Spokesperson Sarah Guggenheimer. “Good’s racist and false ad represent everything that’s wrong with politicians and is exactly why Virginians are eager to elect Webb for his honest, transparent, and immensely qualified leadership.”
