CBS News reports Bresnahan – who campaigned on banning congressional stock trading – owns millions worth of stocks in data center companies while pushing for data center development in NEPA
Congressman Rob Bresnahan is embroiled in his latest stock trading scandal.
Major new reporting from CBS News reveals that Bresnahan holds up to almost four million dollars worth of stocks in companies behind AI data centers while he has actively pushed for more data center development in NEPA.
“Bresnahan has taken an overtly friendly stance toward data centers, calling them potential ‘catalysts for economic growth’ in Northeastern Pennsylvania last year.”
“And he continues to hold investments in a range of companies positioned to benefit from the industry’s continued growth. Those include firms that own and operate data centers, invest in their development and supply infrastructure, and many of the nation’s largest tech firms.”
“In April 2025, he told the Wilkes-Barre Times Leader he was ‘pleased to hear that companies are looking to Northeastern Pennsylvania for their data centers, which can serve as catalysts for economic growth and technological innovation for our region…’”
DCCC Spokesperson Eli Cousin: “Rob Bresnahan’s latest stock trading scandal is a reminder that he has made himself the poster-child of Washington corruption by looking out for his portfolio while Northeastern Pennsylvanians pay the price. Bresnahan must answer why he has advocated for data center development in NEPA while actively investing in the very companies that stand to profit.”
