On the 84th anniversary of the first ever Social Security check, here is a reminder that 71 million Americans are at risk of losing critical benefits because of extremists like Speaker Mike Johnson and his loyal follower Rob Bresnahan.
Speaker Johnson, who has endorsed Bresnahan, is “not a friend to seniors, Social Security, or Medicare,” having led efforts to slash both by a combined $2.7 trillion and raise the age of retirement. According to one expert, Johnson’s “answer to Social Security’s long-range solvency is cutting benefits.”
Johnson would go so far as to privatize these retirement programs so that out-of-touch, ultra-wealthy elites like Bresnahan don’t have to pay their fair share.
DCCC Spokesperson Aidan Johnson:
“Rob Bresnahan’s loyalty to Mike Johnson and his extreme agenda is a threat to the millions of Pensylvanians who rely on Social Security benefits. Voters in PA-08 deserve a fighter like Matt Carwright, not another out-of-touch extremist ready to bend-the-knee to his party bosses.”
