Rob Bresnahan Votes to Protect Trump’s Cost-Raising Tariffs

Despite sweeping tariffs costing the average American household $1,000 more per year, Bresnahan still supports them

Last night, vulnerable Republican Congressman Rob Bresnahan voted to shield Donald Trump from Congressional oversight on his sweeping, reckless tariffs that are raising costs for Pennsylvanians.

The pivotal vote comes as a new report from the Tax Foundation found Trump’s reckless tariffs cost the average American household $1,000 last year. The cost is expected to rise in 2026 to $1,300 if existing tariffs that House Republicans voted on today stay in place.

This isn’t the first time Bresnahan voted to rubber stamp Trump’s sweeping tariffs. Bresnahan and Republicans voted to protect price-hiking tariffs in March of 2025 and again in September of 2025. Last night’s vote would have shielded oversight until the Summer of 2026.

DCCC Spokesperson Eli Cousin:
“Rob Bresnahan pledged to lower the cost of living on the campaign trail but has done the exact opposite. Promises made, promises broken.”
