Last week, far-right Republican Rob Mercuri voted against legislation that would protect seniors from financial exploitation in the Pennsylvania General Assembly.
By refusing to support Western Pennsylvania seniors, Mercuri is already taking a page out of extremist Speaker Mike Johnson’s playbook. Johnson’s Republican Study Committee calls for raising the eligibility age for Social Security recipients, blocking prescription drug pricing reforms, and putting together special commissions to fundamentally change critical government programs like Medicare.
DCCC Spokesperson Aidan Johnson:
“Rather than support Western Pennsylvania seniors, Rob Mercuri continues to put the needs of his extreme backers and corporate donors first. Mercuri is no better than Donald Trump, Mike Johnson, and the other MAGA extremists in the House who are hell bent on gutting seniors’ hard earned benefits.”
