Yesterday, the Pennsylvania State House of Representatives passed legislation protecting worker rights and targeting illegal employee misclassification. Strengthening salaries, benefits, and worker protections, this bill is a no-brainer and a top priority of building trades unions. But not for Rob Mercuri.
Mercuri instead decided to protect corporations and big businesses by voting no — the latest in his crusade against workers and unions.
During the course of his career, Mercuri has voted against extending OSHA protections to public workers and has refused to support raising the minimum wage.
Mercuri has even gone on record stating that he doesn’t believe it’s the government’s responsibility to “ensure everyone has a livable income.”
DCCC Spokesperson Aidan Johnson:
“Rob Mercuri actively undermines the rights and well-being of working families, all to appease the anti-union organizations bankrolling his campaign. Whether it’s workers’ rights, reproductive rights, or voting rights, Mercuri is a threat to Pennsylvanians’ fundamental freedoms.”
