Rob Mercuri’s Puppet Master Opposes Tariffs To Strengthen American Steel

Rob Mercuri’s dark money backers are once again putting profit over people with an agenda that will hurt Pennsylvania workers and encourage companies to ship jobs overseas.

According to WESA, AFP Action — the Koch-funded group bankrolling Mercuri’s campaign — opposes new pro-labor tariffs that will strengthen American steel, protect union jobs, and take on China’s unfair and illegal trade practices.

This isn’t the first time that Mercuri’s big-money benefactors have put corporate profits and cheap labor ahead of the best interests of working families in Western Pennsylvania. Currently, the Koch network is leading a multi-million dollar effort to stonewall Rep. Chris Deluzio’s bipartisan Railway Safety Act that was introduced in the wake of the catastrophic Norfolk Southern train derailment just outside Pennsylvania’s 17th Congressional District.

While his donors are pushing an anti-worker agenda in Congress, Mercuri is doing their bidding in the Pennsylvania state legislature by voting against extending safety protectionsrefusing to support raising the minimum wage, and even saying he doesn’t believe the government should help “ensure everyone has a livable income.”

DCCC Spokesperson Aidan Johnson:
“Rob Mercuri is a corporate hack who answers to anti-worker, dark money donors that want to ship American manufacturing overseas. Voters need to know that Mercuri stands with his billionaire backers who want to sell Western Pennsylvania for parts, and they will reject his out of touch, Wall Street extremism in November.”
