Despite electricity prices rising twice as fast as inflation this year, Rob Wittman and Jen Kiggans voted to raise energy bills on hardworking Americans yesterday.
House Republicans pushed through an extreme funding bill that slashes $3.2 million from Virginia for programs designed to lower utility bills for American families.
The program most hurt by Wittman, Kiggans, and Republicans’ spending bill is the Weatherization Assistance Program, which reduces energy costs for families through energy efficiency.
REMINDER: Under Wittman and Kiggans’ Big, Ugly Law alone, Virginians would see a spike of $256 in annual energy bills.
DCCC Spokesperson Eli Cousin:
“Rob Wittman and Jen Kiggans have now voted TWICE this year to raise energy costs on hardworking Virginians. Their vote is both political malpractice and incredibly cruel to millions of households struggling to pay their bills. As working families across the country see their utility bills go up and up, the DCCC will make sure everyone knows Wittman and Kiggans are to blame when they vote in 2026.”
