Vulnerable Republican Rodney Davis joins his party in voting to continue allowing states to enact discriminatory laws that make it harder to vote
Today, Rodney Davis voted against H.R. 4, the landmark John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act to restore and strengthen anti-discrimination enforcement authorities in the Voting Rights Act of 1965. As states across the country pass Jim Crow-style voter intimidation and suppression laws, Davis voted to continue to allow states to restrict access to the ballot box, especially for voters of color, low income voters, seniors, servicemembers, and voters with disabilities.
“Republicans like Rodney Davis would rather choose their voters than the other way around,” said DCCC spokesperson Elena Kuhn. “Instead of actually passing policies that help hard-working families, Davis once again sided with Washington Republican leaders who are trying to change the rules to keep Illinoisans from voting.”
