#RunawayRod’s August Recess Plans: Dodging His Constituents

Rep. Rod Blum and Congressional Republicans in the majority have little to show for their first 200 days in office, having wasted months trying to pass a deeply unpopular Republican repeal bill that failed to pass the U.S. Senate. It’s no wonder that Blum, who has a history of running away from tough questions, is spending the entire August recess dodging his constituents back home.

“200 days in and Rod Blum has nothing to show for his time spent in Washington, except his efforts to strip away healthcare and raise premiums for Iowa families,” said DCCC spokesperson Rachel Irwin. “Rod Blum and his colleagues wasted months on their heartless repeal efforts, and now they’re returning empty-handed to their districts. There’s no question Iowa voters will hold Rep. Blum accountable for his disastrous record, even if he refuses to face the backlash back home.”

Democratic Congressman Dave Loebsack, who represents Iowa’s second district, is back in the state listening to voters’ concerns. He says most people are asking him about healthcare. And Loebsack says Iowans want lawmakers to stop playing politics with the issue.

Republican Congressman Rod Blum, who represents the first district in Iowa, does not have any events with constituents scheduled during the August recess.
