| Lehigh Valley families are about to face a massive spike in their health care premiums. The executive director of Pennie wrote in The Morning Call that “critical cost-savings are set to expire soon that could deliver a financial shock to the roughly 500,000 Pennsylvanians purchasing coverage through Pennie.”
But Congressman Ryan Mackenzie doesn’t care.
Instead of working to extend the Affordable Care Act (ACA) tax credits, Mackenzie and House Republicans have left town and refused to take action to prevent costs from spiking by an average of 82 percent.
POLITICO previously reported that Mackenzie has not signed on to a bill that would extend the credits for even just one year – making Mackenzie’s position more extreme than others in the House Republican caucus.
Mackenzie supported permanent tax cuts for billionaires in his Big, Ugly Bill, but refuses to extend tax credits that working Pennsylvanians rely on in order to afford their health insurance.
DCCC Spokesperson Eli Cousin:
“Hardworking Lehigh Valley families are about to face skyrocketing health care costs because of Congressman Ryan Mackenzie. Mackenzie was giddy to vote for tax cuts for billionaires, but now that working families in the Lehigh Valley are staring down the barrel of a massive spike in their health care premiums Mackenzie won’t do a damn thing.” |
