Zinke votes to gut housing and transit support for families in need of relief from high costs
As Montana families continue to grapple with high costs and an affordable housing crisis, Ryan Zinke wants to make it more difficult for families to get to work and afford housing.
Yesterday, Zinke voted for the Transportation and Housing and Urban Development appropriations bill in committee, threatening the sole federal program dedicated to new affordable housing construction. His bill could also potentially force tens of thousands of evictions and totally eliminate support for the roughly 700,000 families in public housing at risk of exposure to lead-based paint.
Zinke additionally voted to slash the Amtrak funding that millions of Americans rely on for commuting to and from work, hurting our economy and raising costs on working families.
DCCC Spokesperson Mallory Payne:
“Ryan Zinke is actively supporting cuts that would hurt Montanans’ pocketbooks. Zinke would rather abandon families facing eviction and increasing housing costs than stand up to the extreme bills his party bosses are pushing.”
