Santos, NRCC Lied About Connection to 9/11 Attacks

George Santos and the NRCC peddled a blatant lie that Santos’ mother was “in the South Tower on September 11”

New reporting confirms George Santos and the NRCC lied about New York’s most tragic and horrific attack for their own benefit.

Santos and the NRCC told voters that his mother was in her office in the South Tower on September 11, 2001, and that while she survived the attacks, “9/11 claimed” her life years later.

But Santos’ mother wasn’t in the South Tower on September 11. She wasn’t even in New York. In fact, she wasn’t even in the United States.

But that didn’t stop Santos or the NRCC from publicizing a despicable lie about 9/11 to selfishly and fraudulently elicit empathy from New Yorkers.

REMINDER: Santos also lied about being a descendant of Holocaust survivors, and lied about employing several victims in the tragic Pulse nightclub shooting.

Republicans knew Santos was a liar early on, and didn’t even bother finding another candidate to run in his place. Instead, New York and Washington Republicans uplifted his lies and funded his fraudulent campaign. They are just as complicit in deceiving Long Islanders as Santos.

If New York Republicans don’t demand Kevin McCarthy take action on Santos after this appalling lie, then they’re telling New Yorkers that they’re willing to stand by as one of their colleagues lies about 9/11.

REMINDER: Marc Molinaro has still refused to return Santos’ shady donations, and Anthony D’Esposito still shares a fundraising committee with Santos.

DCCC Spokesperson Nebeyatt Betre:
“George Santos’ obsession with abusing traumatic events in our history for his own gain is sickening. McCarthy’s acceptance of someone who lies about 9/11, the Holocaust, and mass shootings is a clear signal that Republicans care for absolutely nothing but their own dangerous ambitions.”
