| With less than 65 days to go, House Republicans know they’ve lost the American people and are now trying out another new midterm message: unironically bragging about how much they’ve helped the rich by doling out $2.3 trillion in tax cuts.
At a Tuesday press conference, House Republican Conference Chair Lisa McClain declared:
“This has been the most aggressive and productive Congress since Speaker Joseph Martin’s 80th Congress in 1949.”
The statement did not age well, and was immediately fact-checked for the satire it was.
Punchbowl went on to flag that only 102 bills have become law this Congress, the fewest by any Congress over the last three decades.
DCCC Spokesperson Viet Shelton:
“House Republicans are just resorting to writing ‘The Onion’ headlines as a midterm message because they know everything else they’ve said isn’t working.”
