Scandal-Ridden Anthony D’Esposito and Mike Lawler Attend Scandal-Ridden Donald Trump’s Rally Instead of Meeting with New York Voters

Last night, scandal-ridden vulnerable New York Republicans Anthony D’Esposito and Mike Lawler attended scandal-ridden former president Donald Trump’s rally in New York City – which was filled with “racist and vulgar remarks” – instead of meeting with voters on the first weekend of in-person voting in New York.

Similar to Trump, D’Esposito and Lawler have their own records of peddling corruption and racism.

ON LONG ISLAND: A new damning report in CNN exposed Anthony D’Esposito’s shady usage of campaign funds that “raised red flags.”

Just weeks ago, a groundbreaking report in The New York Times exposed that the vulnerable New York Republican gave both his fiancée’s daughter and the woman with whom he was having an affair jobs on his congressional payroll, spending nearly $29,000 of Long Island taxpayers’ hard-earned money – a potential violation of multiple House ethics rules.

In July, The New York Daily News revealed that despite campaigning on a “tough-on-crime image,” D’Esposito faced multiple complaints as a police officer in the NYPD for “reckless” behavior on duty, allegedly “driving while intoxicated and disgracing the uniform.”

IN THE LOWER HUDSON VALLEY: Recent New York Times reporting exposed Mike Lawler for wearing “blackface as part of a Halloween costume” — then offensively defending the blackface as “the sincerest form of flattery.”

POLITICO also revealed that Lawler twice refused to condemn racist slurs and language at events and interviews in just the last month – underscoring that he’s repeatedly allowed dangerous and hateful rhetoric to go unchecked.

Mike Lawler “declined” to attend the Rockland County NAACP candidate forums following these reports in The New York Times and Politico – underscoring once again the vulnerable New York Republican’s disturbing pattern of insensitivity to the district’s Black community.

The Spring Valley, Nyack, and Mid-Hudson/Westchester branches of the NAACP have condemned Lawler’s use of blackface and pattern of racial insensitivity.

DCCC Spokesperson Ellie Dougherty:
“Vulnerable New York Republicans and Donald Trump are all birds of the same crooked feather. In eight days, New Yorkers will reject Anthony D’Esposito and Mike Lawler for embracing their far-right party leader’s dangerous agenda.”
