Williams’ close financial ties raise questions for central New Yorkers
New fundraising records show highly vulnerable Rep. Brandon Williams is heavily relying on funds from far-right Texas donors to prop up his endangered reelection efforts – including more than $8,000 from the ultra-conservative donors who have been under national scrutiny for their close and unethical relationship with Justice Clarence Thomas.
Much like the scandal-ridden Thomas, Williams and his family share a decades-long relationship with Texas billionaire Harlan Crow through their fathers, as Williams’ father once served as CEO and chairman of Crow’s father’s real estate company. Williams’ close ties to and clear reliance on his far-right, wealthy Texas roots is now raising questions.
Clearly, Williams – a Texas native – is more invested in bringing Crow’s dangerous and far-right Texas values to central New York than he is in actually paying any attention or respect to his own constituents.
DCCC Spokesperson Nebeyatt Betre:
“Brandon Williams is proving that once again he is more interested in cozying up to his far-right donors and forcing their radical values on central New York than he is in delivering for his district. Voters in central New York are already growing tired of Williams’ failed leadership, and are ready to hold him accountable.”
