Schweikert, Crane, and Ciscomani Flee Washington, Leaving Millions in Jeopardy of Losing Health Care

David Schweikert, Eli Crane, Juan Ciscomani, and House Republicans left town on Friday with no plans to return to D.C. before October, ditching any plans to address the health care crisis they created.

The Arizona Department of Insurance and Financial Institutions has been sounding the alarm that Arizonans’ health care premiums could skyrocket up to 55% next year if Congress doesn’t act – a devastating blow to Arizonans already struggling to make ends meet.

But Schweikert, Crane, and Ciscomani don’t seem to care about Arizonans’ rising costs. Just this week, all three voted to cede congressional power on pricehiking tariffs to Donald Trump.

If the ACA tax credits expire, health care costs could jump and millions could lose care just months after Republicans enacted the largest cuts to Medicaid in American history. Schweikert, Crane, and Ciscomani’s Medicaid cuts are already expected to force more than half of all Arizona hospitals to perform in the red, which could lead to closures across the state.

New Joint Committee on Taxation data confirms the ACA tax credits overwhelmingly help working and middle-class families, with 24 million Americans at risk of seeing health care costs spike if Republicans fail to act.

DCCC Spokesperson Lindsay Reilly:
“David Schweikert, Eli Crane, and Juan Ciscomani refused to address the looming health care crisis they created and, as a result, are skipping town. The DCCC will make sure Arizonans know it was Schweikert, Crane, and Ciscomani who had the chance to extend ACA tax credits — and chose not to.”
