Rep. David Schweikert’s ethics violations continue to make the toughest re-election effort of his political lifetime in AZ-01 even more difficult. His primary opponent’s latest ad reminds Schweikert that his compounding ethics violations are not going to go unnoticed any time soon.
In February, Schweikert was slammed by the Federal Election Commission with a $125,000 fee for knowingly and willfully using campaign funds for personal use. This adds to the laundry list of ethics violations swirling around Schweikert, including a prior $50,000 House Ethics Committee violation fee for personal use of campaign funds and improper spending by his official office.
GOP hopeful Elijah Norton, a wealthy self-funder who has Schweikert locked in a grueling primary battle, highlighted these violations in a new ad released yesterday. With the general election less than six months away, these ads make clear: David Schweikert’s major ethics violations will dog him from now until November.
