New leader of the Republican Party shows zero signs of “acting more presidential”
Desperate Republicans who are stuck on the Trump ticket and some pundits have been musing about the potential for a moderate pivot from Trump now that he is the Republican nominee. Over the past week, Trump has clarified that a pivot away from the reckless, bigoted, and bizarre is nothing more than a pipe dream.
Since effectively becoming the leader of the Republican Party last week, Trump has suggested defaulting on our debt, selected a White Nationalist Leader as one his delegates, and most recently, doubled down on his disgusting attacks on former prisoner of war Senator John McCain.
“Supporting Donald Trump comes at a serious cost for Congressman Scott Garrett, who will have to answer for his unpredictable, bigoted, and dangerous comments every day until the election. This week’s cost for Garrett is embracing a disastrous debt default, dabbling in white nationalism, and doubling down on vicious attacks against a former prisoner of war,” said Bryan Lesswing at the DCCC.
