Scott Garrett’s Extremist Militia Friends Announce Nationwide Voter Intimidation Plot

Scott Garrett’s extremist militia friends, the Oath Keepers, recently announced a nationwide effort to intimidate voters at the polls on Election Day.

The Southern Poverty Law Center notes that the Oath Keepers are “well known for showing up heavily armed in instances of social crisis,” and warns that their plot is “likely to cause more problems than it solves.”

They add that given the group’s “history of frightening locals … armed, mostly white men secretly patrolling voting stations looking for ‘suspicious’ activity is incredibly worrisome.”

Scott Garrett is no stranger to the Oath Keepers in New Jersey, where the state’s Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness considers the group a “domestic terrorist threat.”

The group’s regional New Jersey coordinator recently hosted an event for Garrett, hailing the Congressman as an “unsung hero.”

“Congressman Scott Garrett’s extremist militia friends just announced a nationwide effort to intimidate voters at the polls on Election Day,” said Bryan Lesswing at the DCCC. “Scott Garrett has a duty to denounce his extremist militia friends and voter intimidation ploys.”
