Scott Perry Lies To Local Press About Support For National Abortion Ban

Over the weekend, vulnerable House Freedom Caucus member Scott Perry lied to local press, telling a reporter he does not support a nationwide abortion ban or legislation to outlaw IVF — despite cosponsoring the Life At Conception Act every Congress since 2018.

The Life at Conception Act is a national abortion ban with no exceptions that would impose similar restrictions on IVF and fertility treatments as the Alabama Supreme Court’s ruling.

After the Dobbs decision, Perry celebrated the end of Roe v. Wade, calling it a “monumental victory.” In addition to a nationwide abortion ban, Perry voted for legislation that would prevent women from receiving mifepristone through the mail or at pharmacies. He even championed an effort to block the military from reimbursing travel expenses for service members seeking reproductive care out of state.

DCCC Spokesperson Aidan Johnson:
“Scott Perry is desperately trying to rewrite his record because he knows that his dangerous war on women’s reproductive freedoms is deeply unpopular in the district. His blatant support for a nationwide abortion that could outlaw IVF will cost him reelection.”
