After the Commandant of US Marine Corps paints a stark picture of how the unnecessary Trump-Perry emergency declaration undermines our military, will Perry flip his position and vote to override President Trump’s veto?
In two memos that were revealed by the LA Times yesterday, Marine Corps Gen. Robert Neller issued a stark warning that diverting military resources to build the ineffective and expensive Trump-Perry border wall is already causing an “unacceptable risk to Marine Corps combat readiness and solvency.” The Commandant of the Marine Corps went on to explain how this has already forced him to either cancel or reduce military training in at least five countries and put off urgent repairs at several military bases.
Congressman Perry voted to cause this attack on our military, but in the coming days, he will have to go on the record once again to either cause more damage or stand up to President Trump.
The vote to override President Trump’s veto is currently expected to happen on Tuesday.
“Congressman Perry can’t undo the damage he has already done to undermine our military’s ‘combat readiness,’” said DCCC Spokesperson Andy Orellana. “Now that military leaders are sounding the alarms about how this expensive, ineffective and unnecessary Trump-Perry emergency order is undermining our national security, will Congressman Perry vote to support our troops or rubberstamp the President’s veto?”
