Secretary Clinton: Every Republican should be asked if they agree with Trump on national security

We couldn’t agree more

During a press conference this morning, Secretary Hillary Clinton said, “Every Republican holding or seeking office in this country should be asked if they agree with Donald Trump about these statements,” referencing the Republican nominee’s comments denigrating United States military commanders and praising Vladimir Putin.

We couldn’t agree more.

Whether House Republicans have enthusiastically embraced Trump’s presidential campaign or performed rhetorical backflips to avoid mentioning his name, they owe an answer to their constituents on his reckless comments. Trump is the Republican standard-bearer. Are these their standards?

  • Trump praised Putin and said that he wants a “very good relationship” with him, despite Russia’s attacks on our nation’s political institutions.
  • Trump said Putin is a stronger leader than President Obama
  • Trump criticized U.S. military generals to explain why he knows more about ISIS than they do
  • Trump insulted our current military commanders and even suggested that he’d fire them if he becomes president
  • Trump accepted and blamed military sexual assault on the fact that men and women serve together in our military.

“Donald Trump has again made clear just how dangerous and out-of-touch he is on national security,” said Meredith Kelly of the DCCC. “From attacking our military commanders to praising Putin, Trump has no business serving as Commander-in-Chief, and any House Republican who can’t admit that is placing the good of their party over the safety of our country.”
