SHORTER HOUSE REPUBLICAN CONFERENCE CALL: DAMNED IF YOU DO, DAMNED IF YOU DON’T

Saved you a listen!

As panicking Speaker Paul Ryan prepares to hastily gather House Republicans at 11:00am for an emergency conference call to discuss how to react to the bombshell revelation that Donald Trump bragged about sexually assaulting women, the DCCC released the following statement:

“Speaker Ryan, Chairman Walden, and House Republicans can talk in circles this morning, but the predicament posed by Donald Trump’s toxic candidacy hasn’t changed: they are trapped between a rock and a hard place.

“Vulnerable House Republicans can decide to disingenuously denounce Trump now, but is too late to separate from him or repair the damage he’s done to their reputations. Not to mention, if House Republicans follow Barbara Comstock or Mike Coffman’s lead, they will alienate Trump’s fervent base, which they need to win reelection.

“Or, House Republicans can continue to stand by Trump, and give their stamp of approval to someone who has apparently committed sexual assault, which will be viewed with richly-deserved disgust by voters of all stripes.

“Pick your poison, folks,” said Christie Stephenson of the DCCC.
