SHOT/CHASER: It Failed to Raise Wages or Boost the Economy, But Hagedorn is STILL Touting the GOP Tax Scam

SHOT: Congressman Hagedorn: “Related to the tax reform bill that was passed here a year or so ago… I think that that legislation has had a lot of good impact out there in the economy and the economy is expanding. I talk to all sorts of folks in many, many different industries that will tell you that there have been benefits, a lot of jobs created.”

CHASER: According to recent analysis from the nonpartisan Congressional Research Service, “On the whole, the growth effects tend to show a relatively small (if any) first-year effect on the economy.” At the same time, “ordinary workers had very little growth in wage rates.”

LIME: NBC News: “The Republican tax reform package that was supposed to raise wages and spur hiring has instead funded a record stock buyback and dividend spree, benefiting investors and company executives over workers.”

“As usual, Washington Republican Congressman Hagedorn is completely out of touch with the reality facing working families back in Minnesota,” said DCCC Spokesperson Brooke Goren. “While Minnesotans are still struggling with real challenges like stagnant wages and the skyrocketing cost of health care, Hagedorn is spending his time touting a law that gave a giant handout to wealthy corporations and special interests.”
