SHOT: Amanda Adkins’ op-ed in the Kansas City Star attempting to moderate her anti-choice record.
CHASER: Adkins “100 percent” backed Kansas’ constitutional amendment that would have allowed the GOP-controlled state legislature to enact a total ban on abortion with no exceptions.
CHASER: As chair of the Kansas GOP, Adkins pushed for a plan to make abortion illegal, even in cases of rape and incest.
CHASER: “Adkins also served as the 2004 U.S. Senate campaign manager for Brownback, who took a hard-line approach to abortion in both the Senate and as governor.” [Kansas City Star, 8/8/22]
CHASER: Adkins proudly accepted the endorsement of Kansans for Life, an affiliate of the National Right to Life Committee, which said a 10-year-old Ohio rape victim should be forced to give birth and understand the “benefit” of having child.
CHASER: Susan B. Anthony’s List, an anti-choice organization that has supported bans for abortion without exceptions for rape or incest, hailed Adkins primary win a “pro-Life victory.”
