Six Months Later, Alaskans are Suffering from the Nick Begich-backed Iran War

Some Alaskans’ gas prices are above $10 per gallon and Begich continues to fund Trump’s reckless war of choice

Today marks six months since the start of the war in Iran that has no end in sight, and is forcing Americans to pay record August gas prices at the pump – and Alaskans well above the national average, particularly in rural and Bush communities. It’s no wonder public support for the war just hit a new low this week.

REMINDER: On the day the war started, the president declared it was “already a success.” Then a few weeks later in April, it was a “Total and complete victory. 100%.” Six months later, all Alaskans have seen is a string of broken promises.

Nick Begich has also broken his promises to Alaska.

He promised lower costs on day one, and yet he has been a fierce defender of the war in Iran, voted five separate times to continue the war, and voted to support funding for it  –  making Alaskans pay the price as their gas prices skyrocket.

DCCC Spokesperson Anna Elsasser:
“Alaskans oppose the war, are pissed about higher gas prices, and have Nick Begich to blame because of his continued votes to fund the war. His unwavering support for his corrupt, out-of-control party in Washington and string of broken promises are going to cost him his job in November.”
