Jobless claims once again fall to lowest level since pandemic began thanks to Democrats passing the American Rescue Plan
Today, the U.S. Labor Department reported that in the last week, unemployment claims fell to 376,000, – down 9,000 from the week before. This new record number once again proves that the American Rescue Plan is still working and has helped get hundreds of thousands of everyday Americans back to work since it passed.
For months, House Republicans tried to block efforts to strengthen vaccine rollouts, support small businesses, and get cash into Americans’ pockets. But now thanks to Democrats and the American Rescue Plan delivering this relief, thousands of families have been filing fewer and fewer unemployment claims for six consecutive weeks, helping our economy get back on track.
DCCC Spokesperson Chris Taylor
“Week after week, these numbers are proving the relief passed by House Democrats are delivering real, meaningful results for the American people. Because Democrats in Congress refused to let Republican politicking stand in the way of critical assistance, more Americans are getting back on the job.”
