Spano Protested by Constituents Over His Scandals and Self-Serving Corruption

“Ross Spanocchio” makes his first appearance at Spano’s Hillsborough County office opening event

Ross Spano can barely run for Congress, but he can’t hide.

Despite the embattled congressman’s refusal to show his face in public, Spano’s constituents traveled to his new Hillsborough County office to tell him how they really feel.

With his campaign finance scandals festering, Congressman Spano’s constituents gathered outside the career politician’s office opening event to demand accountability from the scandal-plagued congressman. With his campaign finance scandals festering, Congressman Spano’s constituents gathered outside the career politician’s office opening event to demand accountability from the scandal-plagued congressman.

This follows a new report from the Tampa Bay Times showing Spano’s “latest [campaign finance] report doesn’t include forms experts say are legally required concerning a bank loan he says he used to repay what may have been illicit loan funds that fueled his 2018 race.”

Even worse, the Times reported that “FEC regulations require that if a campaign receives a contribution which it later finds to be illegal, it must either return it to the donor or give it to the U.S. Treasury within 30 days after discovering the illegality.”

Spano’s campaign is still holding on to the excessive contributions it claimed were “loans” – which very likely will present more problems for Spano down the road.

“Ross Spano is a self-serving career politician and Floridians are outraged that he used other people’s secret money to illegally finance his campaign, all in the name of his political career,” DCCC Spokesperson Avery Jaffe said. “We’re still waiting for Congressman Spano to show his face at a public event, but after he voted against lowering prescription drug costs for Florida families we can understand why Ross is still on the run.”
