| On Saturday, nearly 3 million New Yorkers lost access to their SNAP benefits because Mike Lawler and House Republicans refused to return to Washington or negotiate an extension of Affordable Care Act tax credits – threatening health care for 220,000 New Yorkers.
Earlier this year, Lawler voted to slash food assistance for more than 66,000 of his own constituents – nearly 50% of which are children – who rely on these benefits every month to put food on the table.
Yet, despite his clear record of undermining working families, Lawler showed up to meet with local food banks – all to pose for a photo op.
DCCC Spokesperson Riya Vashi:
“Hudson Valley families don’t need another political photo op — they need a representative who will fight for them. Mike Lawler voted to take food off their tables and rip their health care away, and now he’s pretending to care. He could return to Washington today and fix it — but he refuses. That’s not leadership, it’s cruelty.” |
