Spare Us the Photo Ops: Valadao Visits Food Bank After Voting to Rip SNAP Away from Californians

On Saturday, 5.5 million Californians lost access to their CalFresh benefits because David Valadao and House Republicans refused to return to Washington or negotiate an extension of Affordable Care Act tax credits – threatening health care for nearly 1.7 million Californians.

Earlier this year, Valadao voted to slash food assistance for more than 60,000 households in his own district – where 1 in 4 families rely on these benefits every month to put food on the table.

Yet, despite his clear record of undermining working families, Valadao showed up to a local food bank – meeting with the very constituents he’s left struggling to feed their families – all to pose for a photo op.

DCCC Spokesperson Anna Elsasser:
“Valley families don’t need another political photo op — they need a representative who will work for them. David Valadao voted to take food off their tables and health care from their reach, and now he’s pretending to care. He could return to Washington today and fix it — but he refuses. That’s not leadership, it’s cruelty.”
