Speaker Mike Johnson is targeting senior’s hard-earned benefits. In his first week as Speaker, Johnson pledged to continue the crusade against Medicare and Social Security that he spearheaded as the head of the Republican Study Committee.
His plan would cut these critical programs, raising eligibility ages, gutting trillions from Social Security and Medicare, and ending Medicare as we know it by implementing a voucher system.
As one expert put it: “The new speaker has made it clear he’s not a friend to seniors, Social Security or Medicare… His answer to Social Security’s long-range solvency is cutting benefits.”
