This week, the Urban Institute released a report showing that health care premiums will increase massively for American families, thanks to Congressional Republicans and the Trump Administration. Every single House Republican must answer for this increase in middle class families’ costs, and why they have failed to reach a bipartisan solution to solve this health care crisis.
House Republicans’ vote to gut the Affordable Care Act and increase premiums, hidden in the tax bill that became law in December 2017, is directly responsible. In addition, the Trump Administration’s decision to allow insurers to sell junk plans that will leave millions under-insured will mean that middle class families end up getting less coverage AND paying higher premiums.
“House Republicans’ constant attacks on affordable health care will cause health care premiums to skyrocket,” said DCCC spokesperson Tyler Law. “As long as Republicans control Congress, affordable health care coverage for middle class families, children, and seniors is at risk. Health care is front and center on the ballot this November, and with new premium hikes coming out right before the election, voters are certainly going to know how much this Republican-led Congress has cost them and their families.”
